About the Massachusetts Thoracic Society Established in 1945, the Massachusetts Thoracic Society is the medical section of the American Lung Association of Massachusetts. Membership in the Society includes physicians and surgeons, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, researchers and others with a common interest of preventing and fighting lung disease. The Massachusetts Thoracic Society (MTS) strives to represent the pulmonary medicine community in Massachusetts. Mission Statement The goals of the Society shall be the promotion and improvement of the respiratory health of residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Society shall be dedicated to the highest professional and scientific standards. The Society shall have three major purposes:
The MTS Council is the governing body of the Society and conducts the business of the Society. It is composed of the officers and fifteen (15) MTS members elected by the membership. The MTS is operated according to a set of By-Laws, agreed upon by its members. Current Officers
